Dr Stephen Vincent

Consultant Thoracic and Sleep Physician

Dr Stephen Vincent is a respiratory and sleep physician with a special interest in complex and severe asthma, sleep disordered breathing, lung cancer and chronic cough.

Dr Vincent works in both the public and private sector. He is Clinical Director of Thoracic and Sleep medicine at Cairns Hospital and is directly involved in the education of undergraduates and postgraduates. He is involved in clinical research, both nationally and internationally and lead clinician in educating other respiration physicians to set up severe asthma services in regional Queensland.

He is a Visiting Medical Officer at Cairns hospital and has private consulting suites at Flecker House.

Dr Vincent is a keen cyclist and is directly involved in charity.

Training & Experience

Dr Stephen Vincent graduated from Monash University with first class honors in 1995 and was an advanced trainee in respiratory and sleep, training in Cairns,  The Princess Alexander Hospital in Brisbane, The Austin Hospital in Melbourne, and The Concord Hospital in Sydney. Upon becoming a fellow of the Royal Australian College of Physicians he spent three years at the Woolcock Institute of Medical Research in Sydney, studying asthma exacerbations and in the impact of viral infections.
